Pepco Energy Services has signed a contract to supply 27,000 MWh of wind power to the Statue of Liberty, the Ellis Island Immigrant Museum and other federal sites in northern New Jersey.
PES signed the three-year contract with the General Services Administration, with service starting in March.
Power will come from Pennsylvania wind power portfolio of Community Energy Inc., said PES marketing vice president Kim Price. Community Energy, based in Wayne, Pennsylvania, owns some wind generation, but also resells power from other plant owners.
Although the sites are in New York Harbor, they are served by New Jersey utility Public Service Electric & Gas and are part of the PJM Interconnection. PES declined to disclose prices it will charge GSA. |
