Pepco Energy Services, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Pepco Holdings, Inc. (PHI) is a rapidly growing provider of non-regulated energy and energy related services and products in the Mid-Atlantic region. We are looking for a Director, Federal Business Development to join our team. This position will be responsible for developing sales opportunities and projects for Pepco Energy Services’ Energy Services Division with Federal Government throughout the United States. This position will support PES Energy Services’ ESCO/Construction, Renewable and O&M business segments.
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage Federal Business Development team, plan and execute strategy for successful PES growth in this segment.
- Maintain relationships with DOE, Army Corps, DOD and Agency account contacts with current and potential customers to execute sales.
- Target potential customers, qualify and initiate contact, and develop relationships in order to acquire new accounts in support of ESPC, UESC Renewable and ESCO opportunities.
- Develop call plans, perform sales calls and face-to-face meetings ahead of RFP’s, and secure orders for services.
- Identify and promote ECM strategies to capture customers in targeted markets.
- Interface with BDM’s, project managers, engineers, and executive management to develop, write, and finalize competitive proposals.
- Maintain and update customer contact information, proposals, sales records, and forecasts via Salesforce.com.
- Interface as necessary with procurement and accounts receivable department to verify purchase order terms and conditions and billing information with proposal language and collection.
- Work with engineering, other sales and marketing and operational personnel to develop responses to customer RFP’s and in negotiating and developing contracts.
- Determine and assess a Federal clients needs, provide solutions, negotiate deals, bring sales to a close (Long-lead sales cycle management).
- Advise management of pending issues or problems as they arise for resolution.
- Develop project pricing and financing strategies and assist in contact development and negotiations.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Marketing, Economics, or related field or an equivalent combination of training and experience
- 15+yrs sales and marketing experience selling technical, engineering, and/or utility services within the Federal Market and/or ESCO markets.
- Familiarity with Federal contracting and ESPC or UESC purchasing processes.
- Demonstrated ability to manage a team and consistently meet and/or exceed established sales goals and/or quotas.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills demonstrating professionalism, self-confidence, drive, and commitment with the ability to interact appropriately at all levels (including C-Level) within an organization.
- Above average writing skills with the ability to properly format, develop and write sales proposals in addition to Presentation skills; must be proficient in MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
- Available to travel as necessary with or without notice by car, air, train, and/or public transportation.
- An understanding of ESCO and Federal markets and project finance is a plus.
