Pepco Energy Services, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Pepco Holdings, Inc. (PHI) is a rapidly growing provider of energy saving solutions such as, Energy Performance Contracting, Thermal Energy Solutions, Electricity Generation and Renewable Energy.  We partner with industrial, commercial, educational, health care, and local, state and federal governments to reduce their energy consumption and expenses. We are seeking a Director of Engineering to join our Engineering team.  Reporting to the VP, Engineering, this person is responsible for leading engineering teams in the development and implementation of projects, supervising and conducting analysis, modeling of energy-efficient systems in commercial, institutional and industrial applications including HVAC systems, controls, lighting and water.

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Manage three to six engineering teams; optimize resource usage for project development
• Work with Sales staff to screen prospective projects for likelihood of success
• Review project risks with respect to pricing, savings, customer expectations and constructability
• Provide technical support to Sales staff and assist in the proposal development process up to and including project presentation to customers
• Oversee scope development and pricing for large scale projects (HVAC, Controls, Central Plants, etc.)
• Conduct technical and financial analyses for economic justification
• Coordinate system design and applications; prepare comparative arguments for best practices to develop energy solution models
• Inform and support customers on technical and cost issues
• Lead and participate in site visits, audits, project scope development, design, design review, and cost estimates
• Participate in scope and price negotiations with customers for projects.
  • Develop and maintain database of information and methods for solution development
• Provide design, construction and M&V assistance during the implementation of projects.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

• BS or MS in an engineering field that prepares the candidate for this position (such as Mechanical or Architectural Engineering)
• 10+ years experience in the performance contracting industry
• Experience with design and application of energy systems, including HVAC and building automation
• Experience with building simulation programs and analysis methodologies for evaluating savings
• PE required and CEM preferred
• Extensive knowledge of measurement and verification procedures and implementation
• Effective communication skills for interaction with customers, Legal, Construction and Accounting
• Must be a self-starter with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
• Extensive knowledge and experience with Excel, Word, Microsoft Project
• Must have a valid driver’s license in state of residence and be able to travel, as required
