PHA Business Development Manager, NE

Pepco Energy Services, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Pepco Holdings, Inc. (PHI) is a rapidly growing provider of energy saving solutions such as, Energy Performance Contracting, Thermal Energy Solutions, Electricity Generation and Renewable Energy.  We partner with industrial, commercial, educational, health care, and local, state and federal governments to reduce their energy consumption and expenses.  We are seeking an Account Executive to join our Energy Services Sales team.  This person will be responsible for executing sales with Public Housing Authority customers located in New England.

                                                               

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain relationships and favorable contacts with current and potential customers to execute sales.
  • Target potential customers, qualify and initiate contact, and develop relationships in order to acquire new accounts in support of ESCO PHA opportunities.
  • Develop call plans, perform sales calls and face-to-face meetings, and secure contracts for services.
  • Identify and promote pricing strategies to capture customers in targeted markets.
  • Interface with project managers, engineers, and executive management to develop, write, and finalize competitive proposals.
  • Maintain and update customer contact information, proposals, sales records, and forecasts via Salesforce.com.
  • Interface with procurement and accounts receivable department to verify purchase order terms and conditions and billing information with proposal language.
  • Work with engineering, other sales and marketing and operational personnel to develop responses to customer RFP’s and in negotiating and developing contracts.
  • Determine and assess a customer’s needs, provide solutions, negotiate deals, bring sales to a close (Long-lead sales cycle management)
  • Advise management of pending issues or problems as they arise for resolution.
  • Develop project pricing strategies in conjunction with upper management and assist in contact development and negotiations.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:   

  • Bachelor degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Marketing, Economics, or related field or an equivalent combination of training and experience
  • 5+ yrs sales and marketing experience selling technical, engineering, and/or utility services.
  • Demonstrated experience and proficiency of less than 5 years may be accepted at the discretion of the hiring manager
  • Business acumen sufficient to understand paybacks, return on investment, and interest rate amoritization.
  • Demonstrated ability to consistently meet and/or exceed established sales goals and/or quotas.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills demonstrating professionalism, self-confidence, drive, and commitment with the ability to interact appropriately at all levels (including C-Level) within an organization.
  • Above average writing skills with the ability to properly format, develop and write sales proposals in addition to Presentation skills; must be proficient in MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Available to travel as necessary by car, air, train, and/or public transportation.
  • An understanding of PHA ESCO market, project financing and public housing authority operations and federal HUD regulations is a plus.
